SIBO/IMO Breath Test
aka Hydrogen Methane Breath Test

Hydrogen Methane Breath Tests are non-invasive way to detect if someone has Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth or Carbohydrate Malabsorption (lactose, fructose).

* having an inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Collits or even cancer.

* Symptoms begin at age 50 or older

* Change in symptoms

* Progression of symptoms

* Unexplained weight loss

* Blood in the stool

* Diarrhea that interferes with sleep

* Abnormal physical examination (such as a mass) or lab result (such as iron deficiency anemia

Please see your GP if you have any of these symptoms. He may need to make a referral to the gastroenterologist. Prem Nand, Clinical Dietitian - Nutritionist is happy to work closely with GPs and private gastroenterologists as needed. 

Treatment may include adjusting medications. For example, people with Crohns Disease can have IBS or SIBO. So the medications for these need to be adjusted by your GP/Specialist to avoid further problems.
